Study on Preparation of Sodium Carboxymethyl Cellulose and Sodium Carboxymethyl Starch from Potato Starch Residue

Sodium carboxymethylcellulose and sodium carboxymethylstarch are derivatives with ether structure obtained by chemical modification of natural cellulose and starch respectively. They are widely used in washing supplies, cosmetics, oil drilling, textile pulp, building materials, paper making, casting, food, leather, pharmaceutical and many other fields. Potato starch residue is the waste residue produced in the process of potato starch production. On average, each ton of starch produced will produce about 5 tons of wet waste residue. The main components of potato starch residue are water, starch, cellulose, pectin, lignin, hemicellulose, etc. If the useful ingredients can be effectively used, not only can the potato starch residue be utilized, but also the potato starch residue can be solved The problem of environmental pollution. In this paper, a scheme for preparing a mixture of sodium carboxymethylcellulose, sodium carboxymethylcellulose, and sodium carboxymethylstarch using potato starch residues as raw materials is presented. The specific research contents are as follows: Potato starch residues obtain fibers through different refining methods. Refined raw materials with a high content of vegan and refined raw materials with starch and cellulose as the main components; the obtained refined raw materials can be prepared through the processes of alkalization, etherification, neutralization, washing, drying, etc. to obtain sodium carboxymethyl cellulose Products and mixtures of sodium carboxymethyl cellulose and sodium carboxymethyl starch. Through experiments to determine the influence of the refining conditions of potato starch residues and various influencing factors in the process of alkalization and etherification (such as raw material ratio, reaction temperature, reaction time, solvent, etc.) on the experimental results, the preparation of carboxymethyl for potato starch residues was obtained The best experimental conditions for the mixture of sodium cellulose, sodium carboxymethyl cellulose and sodium carboxymethyl starch. The various performance indicators of sodium carboxymethyl cellulose products are as follows: viscosity is about 5700mPa·s (1% aqueous solution), pH value is between 7.0-7.5, substitution degree is maintained at about 0.57, and drying weight loss is maintained at 6.5% The chloride content is about 0.13%, the arsenic content is about 0.000455%, the lead content is 0.001%, and the heavy metal content is qualified. All indexes meet the requirements of GB1904-2005 “Food Additive Sodium Carboxymethyl Cellulose”. Various performance indexes of the mixture product of sodium carboxymethyl cellulose and sodium carboxymethyl starch are as follows: viscosity is about 3700mPa·s (2% aqueous solution), pH value is between 7.0-7.5, and the degree of substitution is maintained at about 0.50, Drying weight loss is maintained at about 8.0%, chloride content is about 0.15%, arsenic content is about 0.000015%, lead content is 0.001%, heavy metal content is qualified. All indexes have reached certain requirements, and can replace sodium carboxymethyl cellulose or sodium carboxymethyl starch in a certain field.
